Over the years you collect a lot of baggage. My webpages reflect something of that serendipity. From teenage beginnings at art school and a jazz debut, two years National Service, a career in advertising and journalism – all of which is included here. Interest in the Knights Templar started with our first period home in Essex. Interest in the Vikings started because of my passion for sailing and, after being diagnosed with MS, the possible genetic connection. A lot has happened in my life for which I am grateful. Meeting Pamela, my wife, our family, our home. There’s something for everyone here. Read and enjoy.

For ten years I played double-bass with many jazz groups backing well-known jazz musicians starting with a traditional New Orleans jazz band moving on to modern jazz following two years in the RAF playing in the station band. (Listen to Ray Brown playing Blue Monk.) |

Initially I was diagnosed with MS at the National Hospital Queen Square. Ten years later I was forced to retire from full-time work. Despite MS and life in a wheelchair, my wife and myself have run a B&B, toured France, Spain, Majorca, Canary Is. and the Caribean and I have sailed aboard the STS "The Lord Nelson". |

Because I was born in the Danelaw, because of my surname and because of my interest in The Viking Hypothethis connecting MS to a possible link to my Viking genes, I started researching The Vikings. Read about Viking voyages to Russia, Constantinople, Greenland and America. I'm also interted in history and in the Knights Templar in particular. |

Yachties, welcome aboard! |
I have always been passionately fond of sailing since I was young. (Perhaps it's those Viking genes again!) My wife and I started sailing on the Norfolk Broads and I've been mad about yachts and sailing since I was young. I bought my first pocket-cruiser in the 1960s and sailed extensively on the east coast. As I became more experienced I sailed further afield to Holland and France sailing to Gibraltar and competing in the RYC Round Britain Yacht Race to raise money for the MS Society. |

When first we visited Madrid in the 1970s we fell in love with Spain, its food, wine and people. Then I sailed to Gibraltar calling at La Coruña, Galicia. After many holidays on the Costa Blanca we bought a cortijo rustico in Andalusia in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas overlooking the Mediterranean spending winter there. Finally we emigrated to Spain. |

When I'm not reading, writing or surfing the net. I enjoy listening to jazz or classical music, especially opera. I'm also interested in history and genealogy espcially where it relates to MS. If you want to know more about the origin of the Wilsons click here. |
