Hunts Cottages
Great Tey

Hunts Cottages were built just after the turn of the 20th Century.
They are named after their builder, Ruben Hunt of nearby Coggeshall.

What makes these interesting is the character of Ruben Hunt ...

While he built many barns and cottages, he was also a philanthopist.
The Village Hall at Great Tey was probably one of his last projects.
In poor health and supported by his nurse, he continued
to oversee construction. turning up regularly
in a hard hat and long black cloak.
