The Post Office Stores
Great Tey

This is another old, mid 1700s building which has,
over the centuries, undergone several transformations.
Its modern-looking front hides a timber frame,
behind a part brick and part plaster outer skin.

In the 1920s, a best selling line was the "penny monster",
a fizzy, fruit-flavoured drink made on the premises and
sold in one pint bottles - see "ghosts and ghouls" page!
The most popular flavours were apparently
lemon, lime and cherryade .....

Like all village stores, this is still an essential part of local life.
